According to the development for the surveillance systems of highway tunnel and present situation of Xi-Han Highway Tie Lu Gou Tunnel, this paper presents the design of a surveillance system based on configuration software and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).Through analyzing the running situation of Tie Lu Gou Tunnel, the paper sums up general rules of tunnel traffic control, and provides a set of traffic control strategies in the normal, crowded and accident conditions. Especially for the accident conditions, these strategies can efficiently solve the conflict between up-river vehicles and blocked ones.According to the 《Specifications for Design of Ventilation and Lighting of Highway Tunnel》 and researches of lighting technique in the home and around ,the paper provides three methods for the lighting control of highway tunnel, including the way to control lighting by watches ,or in the basis of a timetable, or completely with the computer. These methods not only can reach the lighting standard of Tie Lu Gou Tunnel, but also be economical enough to save a plenty of electric power. This paper presents the design of central surveillance system and local surveillance system, which compose a surveillance system. By using Premium-series PLC of Schneider Corporation, local surveillance system is formed based on Ethernet. Then it communicates the information which is gathered by PLC with upper computers of central surveillance system by LOC. The software for central surveillance system is programmed with Kingview6.01, while the program for local surveillance system is designed with PL7.0 Pro.
