This paper illustrates the design and realization of the lung sounds auscultation system based on Windows platform in detail.Lung sounds auscultation is one of the usual methods to diagnose lung diseases in clinic. Collecting and analyzing lung sounds data by means of electronic instruments is a populated science research in the field of life science. The lung sounds auscultation system based on Windows platform not only inherited many merits of former lung sounds collection instruments, but also bring some new features such as real-time, exactness, strong function. It is a good assistant for hospital's doctors.Windows platform which is used to analysis the lung sounds data is the main hardware of the system. Microphones are lung sounds sensors in the system. The weak lung sounds will be amplified and filtered by hardware amplifier and filter. And then the lung sounds will be sent to the sound card, and the sound card transformed the analog signal into digital signal and stores the digital data into hard disk. The software of the lung sounds auscultation system is programmed by MATLAB 7.0 and Visual Basic 6.0. These two kinds of program module will be combined by COM technology and comes into an independent program. The system software includes two parts - noise suppression and lung sounds data analysis. The noise suppression uses two methods– MLMS self-adaptive filter arithmetic and blind signal separation. The lung sounds data analysis uses time domain analysis, frequency domain analysis, power spectra analysis, time-varying spectra analysis and so on.Healthy people and lung disease patients'lung sounds are collected by the system and the data affirms the reliability and practicability of the system.
