On the basis of introducing the development of the domestic and international compact mechanical technology, both the research significance and the practical value for the thesis of a new-type high-power vibratory plate compactor are put forward in the paper.The mathematical model of the vibratory plate compactor and soil is firstly established. And the simulation program for the vibratory plate compactor and the soil is compiled in MATLAB computer language to simulate the dynamic responses of both the top and bottom plate under different parameters and to forecast the influence of the important parameters, such as vibratory impulse force, on the whole compactor's performance (the compact ability and the traveling speed etc.). According to the prophase model test and data analysis for the compactor, the system parameters and structural scheme foe the thesis are also determinate. Then the influences of the installation angle of the buffer rubbers making on the compactor's vertical rigidity and intensity is analyzed. And on the basis of this, the principal of determining the installation angle is put forward. Sequentially some parameter values of the buffer rubbers is obtained through static rigidity test. During design process, the application of universal joint solves the difficult problem of the eccentricity between the motor's output shaft and case's input shaft, which simplifies the belt tight organ. And the optimized design of the lubricating system settles the weak point of the vibratory plate compactor, which is of actual meaning and utilizing value.Through the computer simulation, it proves the feasibility of altering the prototype's horizontal traveling speed and direction by changing the phase of gears' joggling and offers the theoretical foundation and test program. Adjusting the positive phase of gears' joggling can realize alteration of its horizontal traveling speed and direction, which offers an important theoretical foundation for the following product design, and also provides clues and consulting methods for the structural design for products of the same type.
