The Sluice is an important hydraulic structure in hydraulic engineering. It is usually built in plain river course or mountain reservoir. A lot of practical problems have to be solved in the design, construction and operation of sluices .This paper researches the following two parts.1 .Analysis of sluice temperature crack and measures of crackpreventionSome surface cracks even permeability cracks have been formed in the sluice pier and base plate, which not only destroys construction integrity, affects force condition, stability and ordinary operation of sluice ,but also rusts steel reinforcing bar ,reduces endurance of structure , leads to seepage deformation and endangers stability of foundation. Firstly, in this dissertation, the causes resulting and characteristic sort of crack, distribution, influencing factors of temperature of concrete construction are analyzed. Secondly, the ultimate principles of temperature field and thermal stress of concrete construction are illustrated in the aspect of heat transmission theory. Sluice temperature field and FEM form of thermal stress are deduced. Finally, a large sluice is been as example, cracking mechanism of concrete of sluice structures is studied thoroughly. Measures of crack prevention in such structures are suggested by ANSYS6.1 FEM analysis system.2 .Correlative relation between sluice foundation type andcharacteristics of ground baseFoundation is an important and much trouble structure in design of sluice .It not only influenced greatly safe and cost of sluice, but also limited characteristics of ground base. A lot of unsolved problems have been existing on theory. Reasonable selection of sluice foundation type which is difficult to handle is thoroughly studied in design of sluice foundation in this paper. A lot of questions how to exert side load that side lode influenced internal force of sluice foundation in internal-force calculation of sluicefoundation are discussed. And then on the basis of this, some helpful approach on correlative relation between sluice foundation type and characteristics of ground base are given. The obtained results have shown that this method is suitable for practicable project and it will provide a theoretical basis for design of sluice through the analysis and discussion.Finally, all of works in the paper are summarized, and some advice to this paper defect and also some suggestions on the research are proposed.
