Natural Asphalt Oil Asphalt Road Performance Improvement

With development of highway transportation business, modified asphalt has been widely used more and more. Owing to the excellent property of domestic natural asphalt, it is necessary to study modified asphalt performance with natural asphalt.Based on the research progress of natural asphalt in China and abroad, plenty of experiment is carried out in combination with theory analysis in this article. Through the research of adding domestic natural asphalt of different quantity to more than ten kinds of basis asphalt, some conclusions can be obtained that the natural asphalt can improve and enhance several qualities of the basis asphalt greatly, such as sensitivity for temperature, durability of high-temperature, resistance to ageing and adhesion property. Furthermore, with the increase of a quantity of the natural asphalt, the effect of improvement is more obvious, but the effect to the low-temperature performance is not good.According to the modified effect to various asphalt binders, some basis asphalt categories which have good modified results in both high-temperature and low-temperature durability are selected under proper amount of the natural asphalt to study the road performance of modified asphalt mixture. Under the same condition of aggregates and grading, experiment results show that modified asphalt mixtures present some excellent features, such as high-temperature stability, low-temperature stability, and good water-resistant ability due to natural asphalt itself behaves.From the changes of the asphalt composition and property of the fore-and-aft modification, this paper analyses mechanism of performance improvement by component analysis and theory analysis. It is proved that road petroleum asphalts mixed with some natural asphalt can form a uniform and steady mixture systems because different asphalts among natural and road petroleum asphalts have same components. It is the rich in content of Asphaltenes and Resin that the natural asphalt can improves the composition and property of the road petroleum asphalt so that the modified asphalt binder and mixture get some good performances.
