In this thesis, several key technologies of passive acoustic direction are studied. The acoustic direction technology is an important method for military investigation and an effective anti-electronic-interference and anti-break through on low altitude means. The acoustic direction technology is divided into two categories, one is passive direction technology, the other is initiative direction. The former is superior because it can be effective for a longer distance and is hard to be detected. Array design and time delay estimation(TDE)algorithm are two key technologies of the whole research. In this paper, two cross arrays of interest are studied: four-element cross array and five-element one. The direction theories of the two arrays are derived, and their direction accuracy is analyzed. In the rest of this thesis, time delay estimators and the novel ones are introduced respectively, that is, improved generalized spectrum data TDE algorithm; improved frequency domain adaptive TDE algorithm and quadratic weighting of the frequency domain adaptive time delay estimation algorithm. The simulation results on real data show the new algorithms have better performance.
