This thesis is derived from the moving target tracking sub-system, which is a part of a firing control system with floating-observation-platform. The sub-system is designed to track target in real time in complex background and provide the firing control system with important target status information.High-speed image processing platform, based on DSP and CPLD/FPGA, is firstly introduced in this thesis. DAM6416P, based on TMS320C6416 and used in the tracking sub-system, is one of this kind of platforms.After preprocessing the sampled real-time image sequences, moving target tracking is realized by combining improved Ostu algorithm and adaptive window tracing method. The improvement in Ostu algorithm is represented in two aspects: establishing evaluation rules of segmentation threshold and accelerating the algorithm's operation. The key to adaptive window tracing method is to predict the window's position exactly and to adjust the window's size automatically.The components and structure of the moving target tracking sub-system are also discussed. After migrating the system program to the DSP platform, experimental result of tracking moving dolly is presented.
