This paper mainly discussed reaction characteristics of boron series delay compositions, including starting reaction temperature, reaction heat, reaction sorts, pre-ignition reaction and kinetics analysis of boron series delay compositions. The research method is doing differential thermal analysis (DTA) of boron series delay compositions, and make compare of analysis result, and, finally got the reaction characteristics of boron series delay compositions. Conclusions are as follows:(1) The starting reaction temperature of B/Pb3O4 and B/BaCrO4 delay compositions are independent of the proportion of the delay composition, it is about 415℃ and 780 ℃, But that is about 713℃ of B/CuO delay composition when B in the delay composition is in 3%~5%, and 662℃ when B is 7%~10%,(2) The reaction heat is augmenting with the augment of B in the boron series delay composition.(3) Two different reactions exist in the B/Pb3O4 and B/BaCrO4 delay compositions, and they overlap each other. The first reaction is more remarkable when B in the delay compositions is less or the constant heating rate is lower, and the second is more remarkable when B in the delay compositions is more or the constant heating rate is higher. The reaction of B/CuO delay composition from one reaction became into two when the B in the delay compositions is more.(4) The reactions of B/Pb3O4 and B/CuO delay composition are solid-solid state reactions or pre- ignition reactions that was Mclain pointed out.(5 ) The activition energies of B/CuO and B/BaCrO4 delay composition are diminishing with the augment of B in the delay composition.
