With the development of auto industry, the engine always succeeds as heart part and the part with highest fault rate of the automobile, so it is more important to improve the level of dependability test and the level of intellectual trouble diagnosing of the engine.Through the design and development of software and hardware, this thesis develops a system of engine platform what to be used for carrying on performance measuring and trouble diagnosing to the engine. This system adopts multiple document interface (MDI) ,uses much-thread-technology, and realizes acquisition, disposal, presentation of the signals of engine speed , ignition voltage and injection pulse width etc in real time, through data collecting card and bunches of communication, and provides the scientific foundation for engine fault diagnosis and repair on circumstance. This article also takes several usual signals for instance to analyse signals detected. Meanwhile, this thesis makes an intensive study and analysis of methods of testing on Dynamic Performance and Fuel Economy of electronic gasoline injection automobile, and proposes a fuel consumption measurement method based upon injection pulse width. Finally, the thesis develops expert system of engine fault diagnosis, and introduces setting-up and maintenance of knowledge base, design of reasoning mechanism and so on in detail. The author has done some experiments based on the designed platform to simulate the general failures of engines. The experimental results indicate the man-machine interface is friendly, the operation is easy and dependability is good etc. This system can serve real engine testing and diagnosing, teaching and scientific research at the same time, therefore the system has wide application prospects.
