Design Study For Humanity As The Core Of Urban Public Space

The space and environment human living in in compact communities gradually shaped cities, then the public spaces in cities were formed. As the economy in our country grows fast, cities expand rapidly, so the problems with the design and construction of public space in cities become more and more obvious. While traditions and characteristics are losing, green lands decreasing, the city building and public space make people feel more isolated and separated, being more and more simplistic as for appreciation rather than for public use. While unitary appearance and monotonous function can hardly arouse people's interest in exercise, a large scale of landscape squares and century boulevards can be found everywhere, and great green lands spread extensively, scarcely designed out in consideration of human scale and human-oriented function, therefore being farther and farther away from the public feeling..."Image Project" and "Achievement Project" are leading the urban space environment to the opposite side of humanization, thus making the exploration and research on humanized design of public spaces in cities become important and realistically meaningful. With the humanization as the theme, this essay tries to discuss the principle and methods for designing urban public space.Part one advances the concept of humanized design of urban public space and discusses about system building, by analyzing and elaborating the theory of urban pubic space and scientific humanism, the humanized design of urban public space includes four parts of consideration, they are consideration of physical factors, psychological factors, crowd subdivision and social factors.Part two is analysis of theory and practice. Firstly, use researching methods from different visual angles to discuss humanized public space design home and abroad from environment, architecture and landscape aspects. The focal point is to seek the principles of humanized design of urban public space from the landscape designing angle and using a synthetic analysis method, which are human-oriented principle, integration and systemic principle, elasticity and dynamic principle, continued principle and the principle combining technology and art;Secondly, the article discusses the method and procedure of humanized design for urban public space from the following aspects: summary of designing program, investigation, project designing as well as outcome, testing and response—adjustment, applying and programmer evaluation. The purpose is to stimulate designers to use a profound discernment to think about involved requirements of public life in urban public space, design and build a city from the standpoint of caring for the public, and make the city full of vigor and vitality.Part three shows an instance of the urban design of Lipingdadao in Guizhou Province participated by writer, giving an analysis integrating theory and practice.Part four summarizes urban public space design and expounds useful suggestions.
