The study of steel structure is still at starting stage in our country, especially in the western region. Many questions are exist in the designing and constructing. All these are badly in need of resolving so that speed the development of steel structure in our country.In recent years, with the development of the computer technology, the simulated test has already become the component of the experimental technique. It is very difficult to organize the laboratory to test the large-scale structure and complicated structure. Using computer artificial technology to study the bearing capacity of steel structure and the stress distribute is not only saving time but also reducing consumption.At present, the application software with numerical simulation and computer technology is widely used in engineering, such as ANSYS, which use finite element method. In CAE field, ANSYS is playing a very important role. It has extensive application prospect in the emulation of engineering.But the ANSYS processor has some deficiency in the course of modeling. It is more tedious and more time-consuming when the complicated model is shaped. Though ANSYS oneself has a parameter language APDL, its function is limited, not offering the graphic interface. The modifying of model must begin from the source program, which bring a great deal of inconvenience to the structural design and analysis.In order to accelerate the analysis process of ANSYS about light steel structure, and save time that spent in the course of establishing and revising models, this theory has developed the parameter modeling procedure of the light steel structure based on Mechanical Desktop. Input some parameters in the interactive interface of the procedure, the geometry models can be shaped, which has different section and different shape and different connections, such as ideal joint, semi-rigid connection and rigidity. These geometry models can be imported in ANSYS and be analyzed.Example, the geometry models of large span steel structure I-shape curved beam are made in the procedure. Different restriction and loads are applied to them and calculated in ANSYS. Seismic wave respond and internal force coefficient and bearing capacity are summarized under the condition of different span and high. These offer important reference to engineering design.The conclusion drawn from the course of application of the procedure is: " parameter modeling procedure of the steel structure " that this theory developed has provided a swift and convenient figure parameter modeling tool for structural design, strengthen ANSYS processor ability, accelerate the process of structure numerical simulation and three-dimensional emulation, realize the structural design and analysis integration.
