With the development of Electric & Electronics technology, Industrial Automation and the research on control theory as well as their wide application, Network systems now meet broader requirements and have better performance. In this paper, a water-cycle cooling system in thermoelectric plant is introduced. It's an integration of classical PLC control strategy with frequency conversion speed-adjusting system which could perform data collecting, monitoring and control.The system is described from two aspects: software and hardware, including the system architecture, main functions, the software and hardware design of PLC system, the design of frequency conversion control system, the design of supervising system and the communication among frequency conversion, PLC and supervising computers. The paper is made up of several chapters and sections and a brief description is given as follows:The first chapter presents an introduction of the current status and trends in Industrial Automation including a detailed comparison among PLC, DCS and FCS systems, from which we get the basis and reasons to apply PLC system in our project. The second chapter introduces technical process, the system designing theory and the choosing of automatic products to build the whole system. The last section of this chapter accounts for the background of the project and its practical meaning.In Chapter III and Chapter IV, I will make a detailed explanation of the design of the whole system in terms of software and hardware.In Chapter V, we give great concern on system reliability and the quality of anti-disturbing in our design.In the ending section, a conclusion is made on the research and the technology of this control system. The system upgrade project described in this paper is proved to be very helpful to improve the performance of the water-cycle cooling system in thermoelectric plant and has good reference value for similar projects.
