The more advanced and complex the electronic system is, the more difficult it is to undertake fault detection once it does not work well. Especially in maintenance of airborne electronic systems, high reliability is necessary. To enhance the reliability, the ability of rapidly and accurately detecting and repairing the fault should be improved. So the automatic detect equipments are urgently needed.To meet the requirement of maintaining and repairing a kind of airborne Doppler navigation radar, an automatic detect instrument was developed to implement the fault localization and performance test. In the dissertation, the structure of the radar is analyzed in detail, with the intention of finding the fault models of the radar. So the fault tree can be built. According to fault tree, the automatic detect instrument can test the radar by exciting the fault models and checking out the response one by one. The design of the instrument is discussed, which the part of the exiting source is mainly focused on.
