Lightning And Its Testing Of Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire (opgw)

OPGW will be an important tide of power fiber cables, and will be used on a large scale. However, faults that OPGW cables were stricken by lightning were found now and then, which have been paid more and more attention.The article analyzes the basic lightning currents: short duration impulse current & long duration continuing current and their different damage on OPGW. The author thinks that lightning continuing current of long duration is the main reason of OPGW melting and breakage ,and the lightning charge is the most important parameter There are different view points of the OPGW lightning test setup .With comparing , the author thinks that the long duration" B" wave shape or the" C" wave shape are more reasonable, and describes them in detail. Lightning test setups are designed carefully, which include mechanical, electric and optical parts. Moreover, the article analyzes how to choose the components. On base of the different test methods discussed, the author develops the analysis program to analyses how system operates with the parameters change, which helps setting up the test system. The calculating results of the analysis program are in accord with the data of relative datum.
