Recently, the research and design of three-level medium voltage frequency inverter has widely become the hotspot in the area of motion control. Three-level inverter makes a high-power and high-performance voltage-source-inverter possible. Therefore, it is very important to study and design the three-level inverter both in the theory and in the practical application.In this paper, the principle of three-level inverter is introduced, and the three-level space voltage vector control method is analyzed in detail. The formulas about PWM pulse and the order of switches action are also presented.Secondly, the main-circuit of three-level inverter, the protection and drive technology about IGBT and the control circuits based on PIC series microprocessor are designed. A set of low power three-level inverter is accomplished for the experiments.Finally, software design and how to realize the three-level space voltage vector control method are described. The problem during the design and the experimental results of this equipment are analyzed.
