With the rapid development of our country's economy, the demand for traffic is continually improved. Therefore, we construct actively the freeway because it can settle the problem effectively. But the problem of safety is more and more serious. Though the rate of accident of the freeway is few than highways, the result of freeway's accident is worse dangerous than the latter. Now the trend of the increased traffic on freeway leads to more dangerous situations, so how to reduce the amount and improve the safety is the most important task in our research work.The statistic shows that among the accident of freeway the Rear-end Collision and Side Collision are frequent. In order to reduce two types of accidents we should study a kind of crash avoidance system, which includes Rear-end Collision and Side Collision warning systems. This paper proposes a model of crash avoidance system that adapts to our country's fact, according to the kinematics of the vehicle in the braking and overtaking process, based on the many foreign models and the previous work. At last we use the experiments on the vehicle to verify the feasibility cf the software and the hardware. We consider this warning system can help the drivers avo ding some of these critical situations.
