The relation of the distribution of load and the coordinative deformation of flexspline is researched in the paper. And the law of distribution load on the flexspline is gotten, by mean of the finite element and mathematics methods. In addition, based on the finite element method, the motion characteristic of harmonic gear drive is analyzed.Firstly, the factors that cause the deformation of flexspline are analyzed in the paper. As the load distribution and deformation is reciprocal influenced, the deformation of flexspline mainly depends on three factors, which are the deformation of the flexspline shell, the bend of tooth and the contact deformation of their meshing tooth. A proper model of flexspline deformation is set up that expresses multi-tooth meshing in the same time, in which the initial displacement and the load of flexspline are given based on the experiential formula and the law of the circumferential angular backlash. The solution of the model is based on finite element method. Then a shell element model of flexspline is set up and an analysis is done. A flexspline's finite element analysis belongs to nonlinear problem. The analysis program ANSYS is used for flexspine's nonlinear analysis.Secondly, a new approach for calculating the backlash is given, and it not only calculate the circumferential angular backlash, but also the location of meshing of gear. It provide the new precision element for the research of engaging status. At last, based on motion transmission, the state of meshing in no load and load condition is studied. It is given two instantaneous transmission ratios formula and the angle relation between the meshing plane and output shaft. In reference of the change of ratios, the influence on the meshing performance and the design of harmonic driver is analyzed. These could be good fundamentals for improving the design of harmonic gear reducer and their performances.
