Because of the separable resource and receiver, multistatic sonar have many special character in underwater target detect and localization. At present, the research of multistatic sonar has been taken as an important thing. In this paper, theoretical analysis and experimental research on acoustic scattering properties of some submarine model are made in a water tank. In the meanwhile, the bistatic sonar localization has been thoroughly studied. The main contributions of this dissertation are summarized as follows:(1) Simply introduce the bistatic sonar system, given the basicconception of the sonar equations of bistatic sonar and the effects ofthe parametric on it. In the meanwhile, given the basic theory of locationmethod, cited the localization error in bistatic sonar.(2) In order to do more study in sonar localization, detection, estimation , it is necessary to study the special and temporal distribution characteristic of the reverberation, that is the target strength in the negation not incidence direction. In the third chapter, the scattering character principle of bistatic sonar is given. With this principle, the scattering character wave function of the model of submarine has been solved, the relational curve of the target strength mutational with dividable angle has been proposed.(3)Based on theories research, experimental investigative of target strength has been conducted. The experimental in a water tank of the scattering character of underwater target has been completed. The relation is given by the target strength and waveform mutational with dividual angle and incident angle. The experiment on the intelligent underwater sail in a water tank is tested , the valuable laws of multistatic target distribution characteristic are obtained. The result provides the foundation of New System in multistatic sonar with scientificreliance.
