| The traditional method of measuring the muzzle velocity reduction of the piece in the field practice is that of measuring the length of the chamber, which could not be able to satisfy the requirements of the modern accurate artillery fire. In order to improve the accuracy of artillery fire corrections, this essay, having been integrated with the project" Research on how to determine the muzzle velocity reduction of the piece " issued by the Arms Department of the General Staff Headquarters of PLA, deals with a new method of measuring the muzzle velocity reduction of the piece.Having proceeded from analyzing the bore wearing and erosion by application of the new method, the mathematical model of simulating the law of the bore wearing as well as that of the relationship between the law of the bore wearing and the muzzle velocity reduction have been established. As for one specific gun ammunition system, by use of the established mathematical models the curve of the bore wearing, the muzzle velocity reduction related to that kind of curve and the weight coefficient at each section of that curve can be simulated. Such muzzle velocity reduction and weight coefficient can be marked out one by one and be made up into the curve board. If we take out several measuring points along the bore axis and work out the amount of bore wearing, we can consult and calculate the muzzle velocity reduction of the piece by reference of the curve board.Having been tested in the live ammunition firing, the new method is proved to be of better accuracy, easy operation and is worth promoting. |
