Microchannels, used for cooling of electronic chips, have aroused much attention. Accordingly the needs of manufacturing methods for microchannels and analyzing of the heat transfer in microchannels increase steadily. Micro stereolithography, a kind of Rapid Prototyping techniques is introduced firstly in this paper. Because STL file, the defacto standard file format for the Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing, has a trade-off between the accuracy and file size, a Max-Fit biarc curve fitting technique to reconstruct STL slicing data with higher accuracy and to decrease the file size remarkably is presented. Analyzing of the heat transfer in microchannel heat sinks, Finite element method is used to calculate the surface temperature, fluid temperature and the total thermal resistance of microchannel heat sinks with arbitrary base heat flux distribution. A new design of fractal branching channel net for cooling of electronic chips is studied. Based on the generation of a fractal branching net, heat transfer and the required pumping power for fluid flow in fractal microchannels and the parallel channels are compared.
