Taking full advantages of great on-sea traffic amount, low energy consumption, strong transport compatibility, international trade capacity and so on, our country has recently developed ocean shipping trade and showed a piece of better animation, which takes an important part in the modernization construction. However, shipping accidents occur here or there occasionally because of various reasons including human errors. Against this background, this thesis will discuss some questions arising from the selected over 300 shipping casualties in order to find a more proper access that can help avoid this kind of accidents.As we know, the ship machinery space is a complicated human-mechanic-environment system which, in addition to the same reasons as mechanic and environment, includes seamen' physique, mentality, intelligence. These factors take a key role in the ship safety. It is necessary to take care particularly about the human-error mistake in terms of the Ergonormics. Firstly, this thesis introduces the fundamental problems of the machinery space such as humans, mechanic, environment and so on. Then it dwells on human-error peculiarities and reasons of a general complicated human-mechanic-environment system. Finally, it potentially summarizes reasons for the seamen' mistake in the shipping. These conclusions prepare for a part of information which is important to establish the software database about the ship mechanic casualties.Then, this thesis analyses the present study and future development direction in ship reliability technology, and specially introduces the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) theory. FTA is a technology for safety and reliability, which has been widely utilized in spaceship, aviation, navigation, electron, chemical, mechanic and other industry sectors, even to the fields likesociety safety and economy administration. This method mostly includes two aspects: Regular Substance and Regular Quantity. This thesis makes research in the former and highly sum up the mechanic and environment reasons about ship mechanic casualties which builds up the foundation of the related software.Finally, two results having been taken from the previous analysis are formed by the software in light of the DataBase technology.The software includes two parts: the request system about the ship mechanic system by which the seamen basically find all the ship mechanic casualties and the system about how to deal with the ship casualties by which the seamen are able to get, fast and accurately, reasons and measures of some serious mechanic casualties. The two systems have common in a purpose to reduce some avoidable human errors and control the incidence.However, there is necessity that should be kept on collecting related information and update the database system, because the information, on which the systems were built up is not enough.
