Cracks in construction are an engineering technical problem, which has confused us for a long time. With the more use of new technology and materials today, the problem of cracks is booming. It has affected people's living and the problem should be solved as soon as possible. Although the structural design is established on ultimate strength criteria, usage standard of most projects is controlled by cracks. The result of modern building materials research showed that the cracks in construction are inevitable. Based upon references and integrating with engineering experiences, the problem of both usual cracks in construction and the cause of cracks are discussed and analyzed, an effective compound cracks control method is suggested. The similar engineering practice mentioned proved that by compound control of material, design and construction measures, the cracks in construction can be controlled in acceptable range. The major contents are summarized as follows:l.The author analyses the causes of common cracks of the cast-in-site reinforced concrete to conclude that such cracks are caused by the shrinkage of the concrete, meanwhile proposes how to deal with such cracks from the aspects of construction materials, design and construction through the experiences of design, construction and supervision.2. Test cracks of one typical project analyzing the causes of the cracks and sort them to draw a conclusion, also provides methods to deal with them and pre-control them.3.Input the control methods for cracks of cast-in-site concrete floor into the project management work of the immediately following project and confirm it is possible to control the cracks of the cast-in-site concrete floor through compound matters as materials, design and construction. The effect is noticeable and the goal is reached economically and socially acknowledged.
