Harbin Urban Spatial Evolution

By using philos. materialism, regional and synthetical ide, from the view of economic geography, I study the origin and development of the city of Harbin, analyse space development and the problems in Harbin. Then I propose the space development tactics of future Harbin. The paper is divided into four parts.Part I Based on the region development, discuss Harbin's origin, characteristics of different stages, direction of space extension and the problems emerge from it. I lay emphasis on discussion the influence and function of the railway construction and city planning.Part n After dealing with the city function of Harbin, I research the features of space structure?double core, clear function division and the features of social class, distribution of the industry center along the outside of the city, high-tech development section in the city center, and Songhuajiang protective screen etc. All these characteristics fully reflect the unique and typical features of city space in Harbin.Part III From the city space and region disintegration, I analyse the reasons for the formation of space structure. Harbin has a history of no more than 100 years and it experienced several historical stages and the development was complex. On the whole, the building of the railway leads to the origin of Harbin, while the division function of the railway and the factor's of Songhuajiang river valley topography accelerate Harbin unique city space structure.Part IV Summarize the problems that face Harbin space changes home and abroad. I study the necessary measures to optimize Harbin space structure - city road net, city function division, city Greenland system, construction and future city development to the north, to the west and culture image protection of city in space development for the purpose of making Harbin the international big city of 21st century and the economic and financial center of Northeast Asia and the ecology city with regional characteristics to realize steady development.
