| From Nov.1999 to June 2000, as the author, I visited some relevant authorities and enterprises involved into inner waterway transportation, including Shanghai Waterway Administrative Bureau, the Planning Office of Shanghai Port, Barge Company of Shanghai Port, Longwu Port Co., Transportation Management Bureau and Waterway Bureau of Jiangsu Province, Wuxi Transportation Bureau, Wuxi Transportation Association, Wuxi Port Cc, Ltd, and Wuxi Suhua International Container Service Co. Ltd. I made lots of notes and also looked through and collected many first-hand research materials about inner waterway container transportation within Yangtz River Delta. On the basis of classifying the files and datum, I utilize theoretical and quantitative tools researching the topics as following,1.The history and experience of inner waterway container transportation development both at home and abroad.2.The necessity of developing Shanghai Inner Waterway Container Transportation.3. Forcasting th~ fr~iriht fi~%A, Qk anghai irr-way Delt~.. ~~er vv~~~ia.4.Comparative analysis of container freight cost per unit between barge and truck.5.Presenting positive viewpoints and suggestions on running models and policy-making of Shanghai inner waterway container transportation.By conducting the research, I want to achieve that,1.By looking back on the history of inner waterway container transportation at home and abroad and contrasting with each other, I want to outline a clear trend on historical development of inner waterway container transportation and elaborate the feasibility for Shanghai to develop its own inner waterway container transportation.2.By analyzing close relationship between inner waterway transportation and regional economy or city construction, and its outstanding importance on enhancing renovation of traditional ways of inner waterway transportation and building Shanghai International Maritime Center.3.After forecasting the container amounts produced on every joints in Shanghai inner waterway network each year from 2001 to 2020, I diversify them into two routes, water and road, according to optimizing outcome of transportation cost per unit. Thus, the container freight flow volume between every two joints is got.4.Taking the inner waterway between Suzhou and Hangzhou for example, I intend to testify the gross economical advantage on large scale of inner waterway container transportation by comparing and analyzing the benefits between waterway and road transportation.5.Elucidating proper viewpoints concerned with Shanghai inner waterway container transportation, and promoting suggestions on running models and policy-making of Shanghai inner waterway container transportation. The final conclusion includes that,1.The common characteristics of the developments of inner waterway container transportation in many renowned international container ports is that starting with inner waterway construction projects and opening inner waterway containers?commuting passage at the meantime, those ports have undertaken the same guideline of emphasizing on road, railway and waterway transportation equally. Especially for river port or delta ports, the inner waterway container transportation is critical for the development of key container center.2.Developing Shanghai inner waterway container transportation is an important part of building Shanghai International Maritime Center, and also the new growth point of the continued healthy development of Shanghai inner waterway transportation.3.Since Shanghai has abundant natural inner-water resource and increasing demand for containerization, the potential of Shanghai inner waterway container transportation will definitely be very huge with the improvement of infrastructures.4.Inner waterway network should equally utilize road and waterway transportation because in this way the economic benefit is much better than singly relying on road transportation.5.It is really urgent to promote the public opinion about developi... |
