The author studies the characteristics of silty soils from offshore road construction site in Shengli oil field, select effective stabilizers with fitful mixture rate, to stabilize soils and improve their properties in order to meet the requirements for highway construction. With the experiments on the characteristics of soils and types of stabilization, stabilizer and gelling materials, the results show that lime-fly ash-soil system is effective and alkali stabilizer is benefit for the early strength of stabilized soil. After determining the proportion of lime and fly ash, tests are done about the effects of three stabilizers, single or together, on soils and the content of stabilizer was determined. The mechanism of stabilization was studied by the results of XRD and SEM photos. At last the modulus of soils stabilized with mixture proportions above are tested. These studies extend the questions of actual projects and maybe contribute to the study of road construction with local resource.
