Research On Mountainous City Riverfront Space Design

With the waterfront space in city as the research background and Fengjie riverfront city spaces design as the case study, the thesis focus on the mountainous city riverfront space as the specific study area. While special attention is given to elements and characteristic study, the research investigates the mountainous riverfront city Chongqing and surrounding cities,trying to find out the features of mountainous riverfront city open space.Based on the researches and studies above this thesis points out that as the mountainous riverfront space is limited, we should have a general view of the whole city space's development in mind, combining the architecture, urban planning and landscape elements. The thesis also provides design principles and specific strategies for mountainous riverfront city space.It is a useful exploration and research on mountainous city riverfront spaces.In the first chapter, the author researches and analyzes the present study of the waterfront areas in city through a literature review, and then determines the specific study area of this thesis and the research methods. The second chapter focues on the theories of the waterfront city space and the city design. The third chapter studies the elements of the mountainous city riverfont space, and points out the mountainous city riverfont have the characteristics of complex tarrain,geology and hydrology situation which renders the ecology fragile.As the mountainous city riverfront areas also have the function of city landscape, riverfront expressway, leisure and relaxation spaces for the citizens, we should well balance the protection and development of the riverfont space,avoiding the uniform development's disadvantages.In the fourth chapter,the author points out the principles of the mountainous city riverfront space design. By using the concept of anti-planning, we should first find out the ecologically sensitive areas of riverfront spaces, and control the development intensity of these araes.We should also make full use of the areas which are well located and good for constuction.At these areas we should organize the space and function in three dimensions, intergrate the related elements. In the fifth chapter, the author discuses the specific statagies of the integration of mountainous city riverfront spaces,in aspects of building space environment control, slope and revetment space design, road and bridge intergration and riverfront city square design. In the last chapter, the authour takes the Chongqing Fengjie riverfront space design as the case study and discuses the principles and stratagies that have been used in the project.
