Tianjin Port South District, as the new open construction site of Tianjin Port, there is no precedent for the application of pipe pile. To meet the demand of the construction development, how to determine the bearing capacity of pipe pile has become a reality question in front of us. By the analysis of the load transfer mechanism of prestressed concrete pipe pile, combined with previous research, the paper analyzes the force characteristics of prestressed concrete pipe pile and compares the several methods of pile capacity. Additionally, it analyzes the manner and process of the pile capacity determination. Finally, the paper draw a conclusion the way to determine the capacity of the PHC pipe pile in the region. By revising the pile shaft resistance and tip resistance parameters, coming from the Technical specification of Prestressed concrete pipe Technology of Tianjin(DB29-110-2004), it becomes more suitable for the region. By comparing the double bridge method CPT results with static load test results from different specification and revising the formula of the double bridge CPT from the Geotechnical Engineering specifications of Tianjin(DB29-20-2000), the paper put forward the calculation formula for the double bridge CPT suitable for the region. Therefore, according to the revised experience parameter method from the Technical specification of Prestressed concrete pipe Technology of Tianjin(DB29-110-2004) and the formula of the double bridge CPT from the Geotechnical Engineering specifications of Tianjin(DB29-20-2000), the bearing capacity of pipe pile of Tianjin Port South District can be determined. What's more, contrary to the construction only needed static loading test to determine the pile capacity, the pile capacity obtained from the test must be satisfy the checking requirements of the bearing capacity of pile structure.
