Our country is a mountainous country, people inevitably have to deal with the problem about the slope in the process of national economic construction, such as hydropower engineering, mining engineering, and railway projects and so on. And the economic development of the country depends on these projects. Thus, it is important to study the problem about the slope for the rapid development of our country's economic construction.Firstly, it introduce the research status of slope stability at this stage and a variety of slope stability analysis methods are summarized;Secondly, the finite element method and the basic theory of limit equilibrium theory for the analysis of the slope are introduced. And the common methods about slope failure and the protection on the slope are classified and described;Finally, based on the various failure modes of the slope and the calculation of slope stability analysis, the thesis analyze the project profiles, engineering geological features comprehensively of a weathered broken slope and discusse the failure modes of the slope and the impact of the excavation on the slope. Considering the natural state as well as the role of earthquake and the role of the rainstorm, it calculate the safety factor of a geological cross-section and the stability factor. Based on this analysis of slope stability factor, some safety factors of slope are analyzed.
