The article on the topics of packaging dynamic of the engineering mechanics, combined the topics of buffer protection mechanism of packaging research and development of new materials which co-culture unit are doing, using the way of theoretical derivation, experimental mechanics, numerical calculate, finite element method, study systematically the basic application of buffer performance for a new environmental materials-expanded polyethylene which used widely current.Using static compression test method, obtained the polyethylene foam stress-strain relationship, describe the static mechanical properties, build the hyperbolic-tangent static compression model which have four parameters, and discuss the influence of the density and strain rate.Next through the drop impact test of EPE materials, analysis impact response rules from the experimental data, so established the dynamic cushioning model and identify eleven parameters of the model successfully. In the model, only use one experimental data for certain drop height, pad thickness and static stress, we can calculate the acceleration for different static stress, different drop height and different pad thickness, and they are correspond with experimental data in the rules. It has certain significance for improving the analysis efficiency of buffer performance for packaging materials.Simplifying the model have built, using numerical methods, solving the shock response spectrum and damage boundary curves of the system under the impact of square wave pulse, half-sine pulse, and saw tooth pulse, and study the model parameters on the impact of their rules. As an application practice for this material, in the later of the paper, aim at the buffer protection problem of packaging for some bottle, based on abaqus, a finite software; complete the analysis of comparative simulation of the protective effect of EPE in the drop impact. This paper put forward "buffer protection factor a",has project value of intuitive effects and simple assessment for packaging structure.
