Short-leg wall (SLW) is defined as the shear wall with a ratio of section depth to width being 5-8. Because of some section forms of short-leg shear wall, their mechanical property is not symmetrical. For example, when the L-shaped short-leg shear walls withstand lateral forces in different directions, the capacity, ductility, stiffness would not be symmetrical. After embedded the appropriate shape steel in its section, the mechanical properties will be improved, the section size of components will be reduced, the use area of the building will be increased, and the seismic of structure will be improved. Therefore, the steel reinforced short-leg wall will be developed very well. The main works was done as follows:(1) According to the development of residence system and the characteristics of short-leg shear walls, considering with the research status of concrete short-leg shear walls and the steel reinforced concrete shear wall, and based on the mechanical characteristics of the steel reinforced concrete shear walls choosing nonlinear constitutive relation of concrete and steel.(2) It used ANSYS as the tool in this article. Based on selecting the appropriate unit type, constitutive relation and failure criterion, it made the finite element analysis on several components, simulated the failure process of component, and revealed the working mechanism, failure mode and ultimate capacity of L-shaped steel reinforced concrete shear walls in theory.(3) Using the finite element method conducted multiple simulation of finite element simulation on the axial compression ratio, the limbs thick ratio and the amount of steel. The finite element analysis of this article related to the axial compression ratio of 0.1,0.2 and 0.3, the limbs thick ratio of 5,6,7 and 8, the amount of steel of 4000mm2,5000mm2,6000mm2 and 7000mm2. Through the finite element analysis, the load-displacement curves, fracture, stress diagram were obtained, the impact of different factors on the capacity of L-shaped steel reinforced short-leg wall was revealed. (4) Respectively carried out the finite element analysis on L-shaped short-leg shear walls that before and after deploying steel, and compared with the mechanical properties of different components. It demonstrated the rationality of using shaped steel in this paper through the finite element simulation test divided into four groups.
