In this research, the polyethylene (PE)/organic montmorillonite (OMMT) nanocomposites were prepared without any compatible agent, Organic montmorillonite were prepared in our lab. The preparation technology and the relationship between micro-structure and property of nanocomposites have been studied.The HDPE/OMMT, LLDPE/OMMT, LDPE/OMMT nanocomposites were prepared by direct injection and extrusion. The result of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) test show that polyethylene molecular chains intercalated into the montmorillonite layers, the intercalation PE/OMMT nanocomposites were successful prepared. Study on the influencing factors of the physical performance, thermal properties, and crystallization behavior of nanocomposites such as the preparation process and the content of OMMT. The result show that the physical performance of the nanocomposites prepared by direct injection was better than prepared by extrusion, and the injection conditions significant influenced on HDPE/OMMT nanocomposites. The mechanical properties and heat distortion temperature of the nanocomposites was improved with the OMMT content increases.The LLDPE/LDPE/OMMT nanocomposites were prepared by direct injection. The result of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) test show there are some OMMT layers exfoliate and some OMMT layers intercalate. Part- exfoliation and part- intercalation nanocomposites were prepared. When the OMMT content was only 3.0 wt%, the thermal deformation temperature, yield strength and modulus were improved 13.0%,15.4%, and 31.9%, respectively.The long-acting antifogging and anti-dropping film were prepared by LLDPE/LDPE/OMMT nanocomposites. Antifogging and heat preservation test show that the capabilities were improved 29.2%, and 17.0%, respectively. OMMT played the role of dropping sustained release dosage.
