Because of the advantages of the social force model in simulating pedestrians'detail behavior, the social force is used to simulate pedestrians'characteristic behavior and collective phenomena in this article. Based on large numbers of videos data, kinds of problems are found out, just as the unsolved problems on pedestrians'overlap, wrong setting of parameters. There are also no descriptions about some parameters'influence in nervousness factor and the resulting after slipping. The problems of the existing social force model are corrected, including:Adding contact forces to eliminate overlapping, adopting elliptical specificationâ…¡in the setting of the velocity-dependent interaction force, getting the parameters of A and B with the highest fitness value obtained by the evolutionary algorithm and video tracking method, defining all parameter'influence in nervousness factor, descripting the resulting of slipping. Some characteristic behaviors and collective phenomena successfully are simulated with the amended social force model, such as the lane formation, the jamming, the arch-like blocking of the exit, herding and so on. The result of simulation is compatible with the reality. With the results, the characteristic behavior and collective phenomena is analyzed in this article, such as the relation of the lane formation and the density, measures to eliminate the clogging, the formation and the prevention of the arch-like blocking in the exit, the comparation of the pure individualistic behavior and the herding behavior, and so on.In addition, the safe evacuation in fire is simulated also in this article. Based on the characteristic and the influence on safe evacuation of the fire, the result of simulation is also compared with the reality.
