Environmental-friendly lubricant not only can reduce friction and wear between counterfaces, increase applicable properties of mechanical equipment, energy efficiency, power of engine and reliability of products, but also possess biodegradability, which won't pollute the environment of the human being. Less study on environmental-friendly lubricant in our country is developed. So additives based on rapeseed oil and its friction mechanism should be studied in our country, which has much applicable and theoretical value.First, by stitching same or different functional groups to triazine ring, seven triazine derivatives were prepared with different alcohols or sodium diethyldithiocarbmate and cyanuric chloride as reagents. The molecular structure was identified by means of infrared spectra and element analyzer. Those derivatives were:2,4-di-n-buthloxy-6-(N, N-ethyldithiocarmate)-triazine(BBST)2,4-di-n-octyloxy-6-(N, N-ethyldithiocarmate)-triazine(OOST)2,4-di-i-octyloxy-6-(N,N-ethyldithiocarmate)-triazine(i-OOST)2,4, 6-tri-n-dodecylthio-triazine (C12ST)2,4, 6-tri-n-dodecyloxy-triazine(C12OT)2,4,-di-n-dodecylthio-6-chloro- triazine(C12CT)(2,4, 6-tridodecyl-triazine) disulphide(C12SST)Secondly, Those products synthesized were added to rapeseed oil (base oil) by different mass fractions, and their physical and chemical properties in base oil were evaluated .It was found that BBST, OOST, i-OOST, C12OT and C12CT possessed good soluble properties, and C12SST and C12CT were not soluble, when their concentration was 5.0%(wt), and the oil sample containing 1.0% BBST possessed excellent thermal stability, whose thermal decomposition temperature is 373℃at the beginning which is 1.2 times as much as that of base oil, except C12SST, the six additives' copper strip corrosion standard were 1a when their concentration was 3.0%. Thirdly, the tribological properties of base oil and base oil containing additives synthesized were tested by means of a four-ball machine, The results indicated that The seven additives synthesized in RSO increase the extreme pressure and friction reduction and antiwear performance of base oil in some degree; and the tribologiacl performance of additives would decrease when the alkyl chain of additive molecular became long and molecules had branched chains; and additives containing active elements S or C1 could show excellent extreme pressure, antiwear and friction reduction properties; and the triazine ring played an important role in improving tribologiacal properties. The oil sample containing 2.0% BBST show excellent loading ability, whose maximum non-seizure load was 1.8 times as much as that of base oil, and the oil sample containing 0.5% C12ST had good antiwear properties, whose WSD was 0.79 times as much as that of base oil ,and the friction coefficient of the oil sample containing 2.0% C12ST was 0.71 times as much as that of base oil.Finally, the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to evaluate the worn sufaces of steel balls. The results showed that the worn sufaces lubricated by oil containing additives were much flatter,smoother than that of base oil, and the tribological reaction happened between additives synthesized and tribological pairs under boundary lubrication condition, which generated a complex lubricating film made of FeS, FeSO4 and organic compound containing N.
