Iodotrifluoromethane acting as a new type of Halon extinguishing agent, exhibits anexcellent extinguishing performance. In this paper, the synthesis process of one-step gasphase is studied in which alkaline, alkaline earth metals act as active components incatalyst, activated carbon, molecular sieve A as carriers, trifluoromethane, iodine andoxygen as raw materials. Four units are involved in the synthesis process which are thepreparation of raw material and catalysts, the synthesis in high temperature, primarysegregation of the products and collection after detection. It is proved that alkali metalsacting as active components could result in high conversion ratio, yield ratio and selectivity.Especially, the fix type containing alkali metal salts such as rubidium and potassiumexhibits the best performance. The catalyst with activated carbon, molecular sieve A and Bas carriers can activate the reaction, the activated carbon with high surface area performingbetter. The deposition of carbon could be easily resolved by using molecular sieve A and Bas carriers. The best result could be achieved with the temperature of 450 degreescentigrade and vacant speed of 200 h-1,in addition, the weight proportion is 12 to 4 to 3among CHF3,I2 and O2. On the basis of the mechanism, we speculated that carbene isproduced as interim product which is proved by the experiment. Carbene is relativelystable. The catalysts used in the process are tokened by BET,XRD and SEM. The productsare analyzed by GC and GC-MS.
