The coordination compounds containing transition metals and Schiff-base ligands have drawn much attention because they have potential applications in catalysis, bioactivity and material as well as various structures etc. In this dissertation, ten new transition metal complexes involving organic ligand Schiff-base, bis-(acethylacetone)bismethylenediimine (H2acacen), have been synthesized at presence of supporting ligands. All these complexes were characterized by X-ray, elemental analysis, infrared spectra. This thesis consists of five chapters. In Chapter 1, the concepts, the history and the field of Schiff-base are concisely introduced, as well as the current survey, research significance and the results in this thesis. In Chapter 2, two similar manganic compounds 1 and 2 containing acetylacetone- ethylenediimine (H2acacen) and 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) are synthesized and characterized. This work shows that the structures of the final compounds are correlated with the amounts of 4,4′-bipyridine.In Chapter 3, synthesis, characterization and fluorescent properties of five coordination polymers (0D or 1D chain-like coordination polymers) self-assembled by SCN-/N3- with transition metals and Schiff base acacen2- were involved. The results show: complex 3 have a square-like hole and may be employed in probing Mg2+ for use in fluoroimmunoassays. Compound 4 are a Ni-Mn heteronuclear metal compound constructed by twoμ2-oxygen bridges of ligand acacen2-. However, all compounds 5, 6 and 7 are 1 D chain-like structures constructed by right of the bridges of SCN- or N3-. The results show that: 1) conversion from 0D to 1D is controlled by thermodynamics. 2) the photoluminescent properties of Schiff base complexes are correlated with the bridging agents and the central metal atoms. In Chapter 4, three new complexes containing sodium ions are synthesized and characterized. The results show that: complexes 8 and 9 are 1D chain-like structures in which NaClO4 and NaNO3 are the bridging agents, however, compound 7 is 0D in despite of the presence of the bridging agent NaClO4, too. It is concluded that the dimension of the target products (0D or 1D) is correlated with the pH value and temperature of the reaction system. In Chapter 5, a concise conclusion is presented.
