In this dissertation eight novel coordination polymers have been synthesized, which include the two-dimensional Co(II) coordination polymers [Co(μ1,3-SCN)(μ-L1)]n (2) and [Co(μ1,3-SCN)(μ-L2)]n (3) with 4-methylpyridine- N-oxide (4-methoxypyridine N-oxide) and thiocyanate as mixed bridged ligands; the three-dimensional Cd(II) coordination polymer [Cd(μ1,3-SCN)2- (μ-L3)]n (4) with 3, 5-dimethylpyridine N-oxide and thiocyanate as mixed bridged ligands; the one-dimensional Cd(II) coordination polymer[Cd(L1)(μ-I)I]n (1) with 4-methylpyridine N-oxide and iodic anion as mixed bridged ligands; the two-dimensional Cu(II) coordination polymer {[Cu(μ-L4)1.5(ClO4)2(H2O)]- ?(H2O)0.5}n (5) with pyrazine-1, 4-dioxide as bridged ligand; the one-dimensio- nal Mn(II) coordination polymer {[Mn(μ1,6-L5)(L6)2(H2O)2]?(ClO4)2}n (6) with 2, 5-dimethylpyrazine-1, 4-dixide as bridged ligand; the three-dimensional Cd(II) coordination polymer [Cd2(μ1,3-SCN)4(μ4-L7)]n (7) with 2, 3, 5, 6-tetramethyl- pyrazine-1, 4-dioxide and thiocyanate as mixed bridged ligands; the two- dimensional Cd(II) coordination polymer [Cd(μ1,6-L8)(μ1,3-SCN)2]n (8) with 3-(pyrazin-2-yl)pyridin-2-ol and thiocyanate as mixed bridged ligands. The eight coordination polymers were characterized with infrared spectra and their crystal structures determined by X-ray crystallography. For complexes (4), (7) and (8), fluorescence was studied. The results of this dissertation will benefit the design and synthesis of novel coordination polymers with derivatives of pyridine N-oxide and pyrazine-1, 4-dioxide and thiocyanate as bridged mixed ligands.
