Photodynamic therapy is a new and developing method for cancertreatment involving the preferential uptake of a photosensitizer by tumor andits subsequent activation by light with appropriate wavelength,Phthalocyanines have received increasing attention as photosensitizer forPDT since 1985, so that several works have been focused on this area.Five metal phthalocyanines have been synthesized and experiments havebeen performed to study spectrum and photobleaching properties of newphotosensitizers.Experimenttal results show that the maximum absorption peaks for(6-QO)4Pc Zn have much red shift, the effects of place of substitution andcentral ions are big, and the effects of solvent is small on maximumabsorption peaks of Q-belt.Experimenttal results of optical stability show that the effects of centralions is obvious on optical stability of metal phthalocyanines.Phthalocyanines showed effective photodynamic therapy activity and will bepromising anticancer drug.
