The application of method of combustion-absorption in dealing with waste gas including hydrogen sulfide in alumina manufactory has been studied in this dissertation.High concentration hydrogen sulfide was given off during the alumina production "9931" in Chinese Great Wall Aluminum Corporation. If such high concentration hydrogen sulfide was let out into air director, surroundings was destroys and people's health were deep suffered. So the corporation invested 2.4 million Yuan to purify the waste gas. We choose the economical method of combustion to deal waste gas after considered feasibility of technology and economy.Combustion efficiency of H2S was around 100%. It does not necessary additional fuel during the whole combustion process. After the combustion, SO2 was absorbed by wastewater from red mud. Aluminum factory is under an alkalescence environment. During the procedure of product, it may let out many plenty of waste lye such as red mud wastewater. So this paper can break a new path of using waste lye to purify waste acidic gas. The purified efficiency of SO2 was > 98%. When concentration of H2S low than 0.5%, the waste gas was absorbed by red mud wastewater directly and needn't combustion. Purified efficiency of H2S can reach 88%. The outlet concentration can meet grade- II of Integrated emission standard of air pollutants and Emission Standards for odor pollutants(GB16927-1996).
