In the mechanical engineering area, the revolutionary changes take place in the design, manufacture and craft process because of the developing of the computer technology. One of the conspicuous achievement is that the rapid developing, spreading and application of the CAD/CAPP/CAM technique. But the level of the mechanical enterprises are different, the traditional design and manufacture methods are also used in many companies. These methods are not suitable the modern mechanical design and manufacture yet, so developing CAD/CAPP/CAM integrated technique is the imperious need of the mechanical industry.Metal cutting tool is one kind of tool which can carry out the cutting work directly, so the efficiency, precision and surface quality of the cutting work are influenced directly by the performance of the cutting tool, further on, the quality of the production is influenced. So it has very important actual meaning and economic meaning to research and improve the design method of the cutting tool in the whole mechanical manufacture industry. Using the traditional planer design method to design the cutting tool can't resolve the precision and lift the productivity, especially the design of the hole-cutter, it's difficult to deal with the problem for its complex shape. But compare to other production, the hole-cutting tool has its own criterion and its own structure feature: for one kind of cutting tool has the similar structure and the same topologic relation. These features are convenient for the three-dimensional design. At present, there is a common method in the world to manufacture the complex cutting tools and the tools of special material, which use the multi-axis NC machine to finish all the key parts by one time of chucking. The tendency causes the requiring of the integrative of cutting tool CAD/CAM.According to the theory of the CAD/CAE/CAPP/CAM, combining the actual situation with the requiring of the enterprise, this article analyses the structure feature of the cutting tool in detail and raise a new design method for the complex hole-cutting tool CAD/CAE/CAPP/CAM technique. First of all, the article summarized the basic theory of the CAD/CAE/CAPP/CAM. Secondly, some further research about the 4C technique of the complex hole-cutting tool was introduced in the paper.
