Projection display devices play an important role in many areas. Because of its lower cost and most convenient use, many fields of our lives are permeated by projectors rapidly. Along with the improvement of life quality, the higher performance of projectors is required in many practical applications. The phenomenon makes the testing of the projector's performance become a crucial tache in the production process. This thesis focuses on the testing methods of the projectors' performance and the improvement of the testing methods.First, the thesis introduces the actuality and development of the display industry. Four kinds of present projection display techniques have been discussed: LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), DLP (Digital Light Processor), LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) and GLV (Grating Light Valve). In addition, the testing methods of ANSI-1997 on the projectors' performance indexes are represented and compared with Chinese and Japanese testing methods in this part.Second, the thesis proposes a high precision, cheap and convenient measure system of projectors' performance based on Chroma Meter CL-200, which can automatically measure data and scan the test image of projector. In addition, the advantages of the measure system are introduced comparing with the other measure system of projectors' performance.Based on the analysis of testing methods of projectors' performance, the improvement of testing methods is proposed, especially for luminous flux, contrast, luminance uniformity and color uniformity of DLP projectors. With the characteristic of the measure system and the principle of the more convenient and the high precision testing methods, the 4 points testing method of luminous flux, the 4 points testing method of contrast, the 5 points (0.9 image field) testing method of luminance uniformity and color uniformity are proposed. With a great deal of testing experiment, these new testing methods are proved. The content is the third part of the thesis.Finally, the conclusion and future research direction are given. |
