Slug flow is one of the most common regimes of oil-gas two-phase flow through pipeline. The characteristic between two phases would induce the liquid's holdup and pressure in the pipeline to severely fluctuate.As the pipeline for oil-gas transportation is operated in this regime, the pipeline has to work under impulse stress's lashing. Moreover, an intense fluctuation of the level of liquid in the oil-gas separator at downstream positions of the pipeline would be caused when a longer liquid slug leaves the end of pipeline. Hence, the investigation of the characteristic of slug flow and how to control the occurrence of slug flow in some degree have important scientific research and applied value.Aiming at the slugging in pipeline system of SZ36-1 oil field, calculation and analysis were adopted with the transience multiphase flow software, namely, OLGA. The reason for slug flow in submarine pipeline was researched, the change laws of pressure and holdup were analyzed, its inherent law was revealed and the scheme of control slug flow was brought, which provided reliable theoretical foundation to adjust the technological process and operating parameter in the future. The main works were as follows:(1)The research progress of formation mechanism, characteristic parameter and the suppress method about slug flow were reviewed at home and abroad.The methods of computing holdup, pressure drop and temperature drop were simply introduced and some important formulas were derived.(2)Through looking for pipeline design data and design method, and with knowledge of pipeline operation characteristics on spot, production data in the field was measured and sorted.(3)The transience multiphase flow software (OLGA) was employed for simulating pipeline's slug flow behavior in this paper. The computational results of OLGA have been interpretted by relevant theory.The changes of pressure and holdup in the slug flow analyzed were explained, and its inherent regularity was also revealed in detail.Through which, the cause to slug flow was found out, and the flow type of slug could be suppress or controlled effectively.(4)The treatment method of slug flow was studied. The methods controlling of suppressing slug flow were be analysed comparedly.A simple and feasible alteration method, which can induce slugs in some degree, was expected to be put forward.
