In this thesis, the studies on clusters (complexes) of IB and I1B metals with organic ligands containing selenium atoms have been reviewed. Synthetic methods, structural characterization and analytic methods of these clusters (complexes) are discussed in detail.Then, a series of new metal clusters with ligands containing selenium atoms have been synthesized and their properties have also been studied.1. Three-coordinated complex of [n-Bu4N][Hg(PhSe)3] was obtained under nitrogen atmosphere and characterized by X-ray crystal structure analysis, IR spectra, H-NMR spectra and TG-DTA technique. The result shows that three-coordinated complex structure of [n-Bu4N][Hg(PhSe)3], features three benzeneselenol ligands that three selenium atoms bound to one mercury atom leading to the formation of a distorted HgSe3 triangle core. Crystal data of the complex: monoclinic, P21/n, a = 0.9724(2)nm, b = 1.7319(4) nm, c = 2.1771(5) nm, 8= 95.357(5)°, Dc=1.685g/cm3, V = 3.6504(14) nm3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0432,w R2= 0.1167.2. An adamantane-like mercury-selenium cage complex, [Hg4(PhSe)8(PPh3)2], has been prepared by the reaction of HgBr2, PPh3 and PhSeH at room temperature. The cluster was characterized with single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis as well as IR ,H-NMR spectra and TG-DTA technique. X-ray structural analysis results show that the crystal belongs to triclinic system, and P-1 space group with parameters, crystal data of the complex: a=1.37322(11)nm,b=1.47879(12)nm,c=2.26406(18)nm, a=73.095 (2) , β=73.579(2), γ=65.783(1), V=3.9409(6)nm3, Dc=1.839g/cm3,Z=4,R1=0.0319,wR2 =0.0707.Four Hg atoms and four Se atoms form one adamantane-like structure. Each of Hg atom is coordinated to two Se atoms and two P atoms.3. A new cluster with Se, P-contained ligand, [Ag2(PhSe)2(PPh3)3] has been prepared by the reaction of AgNO3, PPI13 and PhSeH at room temperature. The cluster was characterized with single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and IR spectra. X-ray structural data show that the crystal belongs to triclinic system, and P-l space group with parameters, crystal data of the complex: a=l.10749(6) nm,b=l.34572 (7) nm, c=2.05010(ll)nm , a=80.666(l)2 , 8=86.561(2)e , y=72.516(l)s , Dc=1.518g/cm3,V=2.8755(3)nm3,Z=2, Rl = 0.0385, wR2 = 0.0784.4. A new cluster with Se,P-contained ligand [Ag5Se(PhSe)6(PPh3)s] has been prepared by the reaction of AgNC>3, PPI13, PhSeH and Na2Se at room temperature. The cluster was characterized with single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and IR spectra. X-ray structural data shows that the crystal belongs to triclinic system, and P-l space group with parameters, crystal data of the complex: a=1.48037(10)nm, b=1.79343(12)nm, c=2.53652(17)nm, a=104.622(l)e, 8=93.141(l)s, Y=101.402(l)9, Dc=1.578g/cm3,V=6.0313(7)nm3,Z=2, Rl = 0.0591, wR2 = 0.1951.
