With the development of our petroleum industry, deviating hole and horizontal hole has a large scale using in the oilfield, high sand content hole and heavy oil hole became more and more common, it bring a lot of problem to rod liner pump or electrical submersible pump. Progressive cavity pump has good adaptation. It has the advantage of high efficiency and saving energy. It is the primary method for the production of heavy oil and high sand hole.Progressive cavity pump is compact in the shape , it is light and convenient in the maintenance or management. It's ground equipment is simple, compact, easily in the adjust of discharge capacity, high system efficiency and so on. It became more and more important and common used in the oilfield. Especially in the production of high viscosity oil , high sand content oik high gas content oil, progressive cavity pump has the particular function.We developed two kinds of series ESPCP(Electric Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump) units according to the requirements of oil production . The performance of the units are20~80m3/d capacity , 800-1500m head , 70%~80% efficiency , 100℃ ~120℃ work temperature. There the developed reducer for ESPCP has obtained national patent, and various performance index of these two kinds of units has met the requirements of design. The units, which close to the international level, has gained better economic benefit .The largest run-life of ESPCP is 362 days since applied on-site. The down hole ESPCP unit includes four polar submersible motor, protector for motor, gear reducer, protector for reducer, dual universal joint, intake and progressive cavity pump. As a new rodless oil production equipment, the ESPCP can be applied in high-viscosity, wax content, sand or gas content well, and radically resolve problems met by sucker rod screw pump applied in heavy oil production such as break of rod , offset-abrasion of rod tube and limit to apply in deep or deviation well .The unit also overcomes the low efficiency of ESP(electric submersible pump) pumping high viscosity oil and especially applied in directional well .Therefore , the developed ESPCP will be the most favorable equipment for heavy oil production and applied widely in the future.
