Studies show that the graphite is a strong infrared extinction material. When it is taken as the forming smoke component of anti-infrared smoke agent, the graphite can burn. So the utilization radio of the graphite and the infrared extinction ability of smoke are reduced. In order to solve the problem, the modifications of graphite are studied. The results show the expanded product of superfine expansible graphite is better than the raw material of the graphite on the infrared extinction ability and the suspending capacity; the product of the graphite coated CuO is worse than the raw material of the graphite on the infrared extinction ability and the suspending capacity, but it is better dispersed, easier spurted and has less quantity of residue than the raw material of the graphite. The use of carbon particle can prevent the combustion of the graphite and improve the infrared extinction effect of primary smoke agent. The three materials selected attain demands of environmental protection.
