In this thesis, four novel complexes were synthesized which are [Ba(HLa)Cl] (1, H2La=p-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid), [BaKLb(H2O)3] (2, H3Lb=4-hydrox-5-nitro-1,3-disulfonic acid) [Cu(Lc)2(H2O)2]2H2O (3, HLc=p-amino-benzenesulfonic acid), and [Cu2(Ld)4(DMF)2]2DMF(4, HLd=p-amino-benzenecarboxylic acid) Their crystal structrues were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction method. All refinements were done by Full-matrix least-squares on F2.It was showed that, in compound 1, the Ba2+ is nine-coordinated by five sulfonate oxygen atoms from four different sulfonate groups, one hydroxyl oxygen atom, and three chlorine anions. And 1 represents a layered structure linked by HLa- interlayer. In compound 2, the Ba2+ is also nine-coordinated. The coordination sphere is comprised of three sulfonate oxygen atoms from three different sulfonate groups, two hydroxyl oxygen atoms, one oxygen atom from a nitro-group, and three water molecules. And the K+ is eight-coordinated by four sulfonate oxygen atoms from three different sulfonate groups, two oxygen atoms from one nitro-group, and two water molecules. compound 2 is a 3-D network which can also be described as a layered structure linked by K+.In 3, Cu(II) is six-coordinated by two –NH2 two –SO3ˉ from four different groups, and two water molecules in the axial positions. Compound 3 has a 2-D layered structure and there exist inter-layered H-bonds.In 4, there is a bi-nuclear unit composed of two copper atoms and four carboxylates. Each Cu(II) in the unit is six-coordinated, and the octahedral coordination sphere is comprised of four oxygen atoms from four different carboxylate groups at the equator planar, one DMF at one axial position, another Cu(II) at the second axial position. There is interaction between the two copper atoms. There are H-bonds between the units.
