The cationic copolymer PDA with 10% cationicity of diallyldimethylammonium chloride(DMDAAC) and acrylamide(AM) was prepared in inverse emulsion Polymerization by adding monomers at the same time. Several process parameters, such as temperature and different concentration of different initiators, were preliminarily studied. The optimum conditions of process parameters on the intrinsic viscosity, conversion and flocculation in the product PDA were obtained as following: for the polymerization temperature arrange of 30~50℃, 40℃ is the best one; for the initiator of K2O8-NaHSO3 and BPO, the optimal ratio of initiator to monomers are 0.5% and 0.3% respectively; the initiator of K2S2O8-NaHSO3 is better than BPO. Meanwhile, the inverse emulsion polymerization to synthesize the PDA by stage-addition was studied, which settled a base for advanced research. The PDA's performance of flocculation was studied. The PDA's performance in pure water and different low molecular weight electrolytic agent solutions were described. The results are that the intrinsic viscosity of PDA solution increases with the decreasing of its concentration in pure water; the intrinsic viscosity was lower when the electrolytic agent's consistency was more dense and the negative ion's radius was bigger in low molecular weight electrolytic agent solution.
