| A new research field, environmental information system (EIS), is established because information technology is applied to environmental protection and becomes more and more important. In this paper, an area air environmental information system is developed: it is used to assess and forecast the air environment quality of some new industry area in Baiyun. The principles of computer software engineering, management information system theory, geographic information system theory and environmental science are used. In addition, some softwares including Maplnfo Professional 6.5 MapBasic5.0 Visual Basic6.0 MS Access 2000 and Surfer8.0 are adopted.In the aspect of theory, the new technology system and the application fields of the environmental information system (EIS) are discussed entirely and deeply. The three different developing methods are compared, and the integration one, "Visual Basic + Maplnfo + MapBasic", is advanced as a result, which is met to actual need in engineering application.In the aspect of technology, the area air environmental information system (AAEIS) is built through the Visual Basic 6.0 as a interface development tool, the Maplnfo Professional 6.5 & Surfer 8.0 which manage and analyze the map information by OLE technology, and the Microsoft Access 2000 which serves as database management system (DBMS) by DLEDB connecting with AAEIS.In the aspect of applications, the AAEIS is used to manage and analyze the data of air in the Baiyun new industry area. And it, moreover, is applied to assess and forecast the air quality of the industry area in Baiyun. The results show that it works so well. |
