The synthesis of Polyacrylamide(PAM) was studied in various conditions , such as using three different initiating systems, changing the dosage of initiator,varying polymerization temperatures and monomer content.Based on these parameters a nonionic polyacrylamide with different molecular weight was synthesized.A cation aminomethylation polyacrylamide which reacted with formaldehyde and amine was prepared by Mannich reaction.At the same time the optimal experiment conditions were obtained in accordance with a correctional experiment method.The study also focused on the influence of the ratio of amine versus formaldehyde,the sequence of addition of reaction reagent, polymerization temperatures and time on aminomethylation degree of aminomethylation polyacrylamide. Another cation polyacrylamide is a copolymer (PDA) of diallyl ammonium monomer with acrylamide monomer, which was prepared by free radical copoIymerization.We also discussed the influence factors on molecular weight of copolymers,and ascertain the best copolymerization condition.According to the investigation the condition is determined as follows: using K2S2O8-NaHSO3 as initiating system; employing initiator and monomer concentrations at about 0.05~0.1% and 20~ 50%, respectively; keeping copolymerization temperature in a range of 30~ 50℃ ; holding monomer ratio to DMDAAC: AM=1: 2; pH value at 2~3; copolymerization time about 10h. The polymer chain structures were characterized by using IR spectroscopy and DSC techniques.Finally,the several flocculating agents were prepared,and used to treat waste water of paper-making production.The result indicated that PDA' s waste water treating effect is much bettercompared with the same products currently selling in the market.
