Considerable interest has been shown in transition metal complexes with N-substituted-salicyl Schiff ligands owning to their biological activities and chemical and industrial versatility. In this dissertation, the author has carried out the study on the compounds with N-substituted-salicyl ligands and dioxime ligand. Eighteen compounds have been synthesized and characterized. These title compounds are complexes with N-salicylaldehyde-N'-phenoxyacyl hydrazone L1 { [Cu4(L1)4 (DMF)]·DMF (1), [Cu2(L1)2 (py)]2·1.5DMF (2), [Cu(L1)(py)]2 (3), Co(L1)(acac)(DMF) (4), Ni(L1)(py)3 (5), Mn(L1)2(DMF) (6) }; complexes with N-salicylaldehyde-N'-salicyloyl hydrazone L2 { [Ni(L2)(DMF)(H2O)]2·[Ni(L2) (DMF)2]2·2DMF (7), Ni(L2)(py)3 (8), [Ni(L2) (py)3]·py (9), Zn(L2)(py)2 (10) }; complex with 1,4- disalicyloyl-2-tetrazene L3 { [Ni4(L3)2(DMF)2(H2 O)2]·2DMF (11) }; complexes with 1,2-disalicyloyl hydrazine L4 { [Ni2(L4)(py)6]·2py (12), Ni(en)3·(L4) (13), Cu2(L4)(py)4 (14) }; complexes with N- salicylaldehyde-N'-(4-methoxybenzoyl) hydrazone L5 { Ni(L5)(py) (15), Cu(L5)(py) (16) }; 2-ketone-1,3-cyclohexan-dioxime ligand L6 and its complex { C6H8N2O3 (17), [Cu3(C7H9 N2O4)2(C6H7N2O3) (ClO4)]·H2O (18) }.The crystal structures of the title compounds have been studied. And the IR spectra, electronic spectra, fluorescence spectra and ESR spectra of some selected compounds have been analyzed.The complex 1 is a linear tetranuclear copper complex. The adjacent complex molecules 1 are linked by N-N bridge of the pentadentate ligand L1, resulting in an one-dimensional polymer. The two copper atoms are combined through the hydrazine N-N bond of a pentadentate ligand, forming a binuclear structure unit in complex 2. The two binuclear units are held together by Cu2(μ2-O)2 core to obtain a stair-like tetranuclear complex 2. The complex 11 is the first example of cyclic tetranuclear nickel complex with an octadentate ligand. The cyclic tetranuclear complex 11 is an one-dimensional hydrogen bonded polymer. The copper complex 18 is an unusual triangular cluster compound, the cyclic structure observed in 18 without any triply bridging ligands is rare for copper(II) complexes. The neighboring trinuclear compound molecules 18 are linked through the weak copper-oxygen (oxime) bonds and hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional net structure.
