Equivalent Salinity Deposit Density (ESDD) refers to NaCL value with the similar conductivity converted from the conduction function of dirt attached to the insulator, its physical implication is the equivalent salinity value of dirt attached to the insulator. Among the domestic approaches quantifying the dirt, the approach to measure the salinity degree is the longest, and the most popularly applied one with abundant references, which is therefore is the most important basic index in identifying the degree of dirt in current anti-Pollution Flashover. But this measurement has its own disadvantages, for instance the distributed measurement works, inaccurate results, and it also request to hang the insulator on the specific sites or to fetch the operating insulator, all those works will have to be done manually, and request lot of manpower.Based on full research and investigation, this article try to utilize the sampling principle of TSP method applied in air quality monitoring and measurement, to figure out the TSP values at different locations around the insulator. And to conclude the equivalent salinity values by applying electric chemistry, which the new concept will be induced, i.e., air quality index. The physical implication of this index is referring to the equivalent salinity content of the total suspending particles in the unit volume air around the insulator. After the research of each equivalent attached salinity deposit density measured in the testing stations of natural dirt and the interconnection with the air quality index, to find out the linear relationship between them. The measurement of air quality index features for its easiness and reliability, which is more accurate and convenient compared to the ESDD method, which therefore reduces the labor intensity, and can replace the original approach.
